The Syllabus: How Simple Syllabus is Improving Student Success, Reducing Instructor Workload, and Changing Accreditation

Time: Monday, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Location: Room 615B, 6th floor

In this fast-paced session, participants learn how Simple Syllabus gives students better access to information, reduces faculty workload, and streamlines compliance activities through a centralized syllabus management platform. See Simple Syllabus in action and learn how its powerful reporting module turns a syllabus into data that can be used to improve organizational outcomes.

The Solution Is Simple

Students ranked the class syllabus the most important resource for academic information at a rate of two-to-one to the next closest item, the website. Yet at many college campuses getting access to this information isn’t always easy. While 94% of students want to review a class syllabus prior to class registration, just 55% are available even before the first day of class. Compounding this issue, over 70% of students report receiving class syllabi missing key information such as a list of assignments, grading scale, or materials. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be this way.

At this year’s annual NISOD conference stop by Simple Syllabus, Booth#409, to learn about syllabus management technology and how it can help save faculty time, improve the quality of academic content, and give students better access to information.

How it works

Simple Syllabus is a centralized, template-driven platform that automatically populates major portions of the syllabus so your faculty and staff don’t have to.

From an instructors personalized dashboard, they will see a listing of both current and upcoming class syllabi with the ability to quickly modify through an online syllabus publisher. Designed specifically for faculty updating syllabi, the user interface is incredibly intuitive and requires no training to use, best of all it can be embedded within most major LMS platforms utilizing LTI. Its web-based architecture means it’s accessible from anywhere, anytime and requires no software installation or updates.

The Simple Syllabus Student Portal provides a personalized experience for each student with a curated collection of both current and previous course syllabi for the courses they were enrolled in. Save students time by housing all their syllabi in a single location and facilitate transfer/articulation activities by providing an archive of former class syllabi.
